A Picture Worth A Thousand Words

First Lady Michelle Obama visited the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site in Topeka, Kan. on  May 16, 2014 when White House photographer Chuck Kennedy captured this poignant image below.  The First Lady is speaking with Stephanie Kyriazis, who is the Chief of Interpretation and Education. The imagery will give you goose bumps. The two women stand perfectly aligned with the “white” and “colored” signs that hang above their heads. It’s been 50 years since the landmark decision of Brown vs Board of Education. A lot of progress has been made, yet still – there is so much more that needs to be done.
