A Trip down Memory Lane: White House Christmas 2009

The holiday season is an especially festive one at the White House full of celebratory parties both private and public. It is also full of traditions such as the decorating of the official White House Christmas tree, the national tree lighting ceremony and several state dinners. Lets take a look at a few pictures of how the First Family has celebrated the holidays –

Christmas 2009: The Blue Room Christmas tree ornament theme is always selected by the First Lady of the administration. In that year, First Lady Obama noted “We took about 800 ornaments left over from previous administrations, we sent them to 60 local community groups throughout the country, and asked them to decorate them to pay tribute to a favorite local landmark and then send them back to us for display here at the White House.”. ┬áThe holiday theme for the family was “Reflect, rejoice, renew”
