President Obama & Family Volunteer at Capital Area Food Bank in Thanksgiving Family Tradition

President Obama and the Oregon State men’s basketball team visited a Washington D.C.-area food bank Wednesday.

“The First Family will continue their annual Thanksgiving tradition and participate in a service project at the Capital Area Food Bank. They will be joined by family and friends including members of the Oregon State men’s basketball team. The First Family will pack and distribute bags of food to children and seniors served by the Food Bank,” the White House said.

An extra-large motorcade drove the Obamas and the team to the food bank, located in Northeast D.C.

In remarks earlier at the annual turkey pardoning, Obama said: “Michelle, Malia, Sasha and I will be taking two turkeys who were not so lucky to a local food bank here in Washington, D.C.”

Obama encouraged other Americans to follow his example.

“I’d like to ask every American to do what they can to help families who are in need of a real Thanksgiving this year,” he said.
